The European Week of Sport 2016

The European Week of Sport 2016 #BeActive

In 10 days, the second edition of the European Week of Sport will commence. The European Week of Sport itself aims to promote sport and physical activity across Europe, with a focus on grassroots initiatives.

EU-centralised events and activities will take place from 10 to 17 September, including the Official Opening on 10 September in Kosice, Slovakia, the Flagship Event on 15 September in Brussels, Belgium, and other events with a European-wide vocation organised by European partners, The Flagship Event will start with interactive workshops in the morning, followed by a conference on Good Governance in Sport and 2016 #BeActive Awards ceremony in the afternoon.

At the heart of the initiative will be the national Weeks of Sport, implemented in close cooperation with national coordinators. Thousands of events will take place across Europe during the national Weeks to start between 10 and 24 September 2016.

As in 2015, the Week itself is structured around four main themes, called Focus Days:

Education environment,
Sport Clubs and Fitness centres.
Next to an overarching communication campaign with the main theme #BeActive, an ambassador programme, #BeActive Awards and a photo competition also spreads the messages of the Week.
